One of the highlights of the inter-university competition "Fintech - Blockchain Hackathon 2024" was the large participation of students from more than 10 universities in Ho Chi Minh City. This was the first time a Fintech-Blockchain competition was organized on an inter-university scale, creating a healthy and high-quality competitive environment.

Notable participating universities included Ho Chi Minh City University of Foreign Languages and Information Technology (HUFLIT), Foreign Trade University – Campus II, University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City, Ho Chi Minh City Banking University, RMIT University, Ton Duc Thang University, and FPT University Ho Chi Minh City. Each school brought its own strengths: HUFLIT and FPT excelled in technology, Foreign Trade and University of Economics HCMC were strong in finance and economics, RMIT had an advantage in international programs, and HCMC Banking University specialized in banking and finance.

The diversity of participants created a rich tapestry of approaches and problem-solving methods. Students from technology-focused schools tended to concentrate on product development and technical solutions, while those from economics-focused schools excelled in market analysis and business modeling. This combination fostered interdisciplinary teams where members complemented each other, resulting in well-rounded projects.

The competition was organized by HUFLIT and Hung Vuong University, in coordination with Fintech And Digital Asset Impetus Network (FADA). Notably, various co-organizing clubs actively participated, including the HUFLIT Fintech and Financial Investment Club (HUFIC), the Foreign Trade University – Campus II Fintech Club (FFC), the University of Economics HCMC Stock Club (SCUE), and the FPT University Business Economics Club (BEC).

Collaboration between clubs from different universities created a strong support network for students. The clubs not only organized the competition but also provided opportunities for students to interact, learn, and share experiences with peers from other institutions. Many students reported making friends across universities, expanding their networks, and opening doors for future collaboration.

Mr. Phan Minh Dat, Head of the Organizing Committee, emphasized: “The competition not only provides a playground for students to sharpen their skills and deepen their knowledge in the fintech environment but also builds a solid foundation for innovative and breakthrough ideas.”

Organizing an inter-university competition also reflects the trend of collaboration and partnership among universities in training high-quality human resources. Instead of competing negatively, the universities collectively created a shared learning and development environment where students could learn from each other and progress together.
