Marking an important step in expanding both scale and quality, the Fintech - Blockchain Hackathon 2024 was held for the first time as an inter-university competition, attracting over 300 students from more than 10 universities across Ho Chi Minh City. This is considered the largest academic event in 2024 focusing on financial technology (Fintech) and blockchain applications for university students.

The competition was organized under the direction and support of HUFLIT (Ho Chi Minh City University of Foreign Languages and Information Technology) and Hung Vuong University, in collaboration with the Fintech And Digital Asset Impetus Network (FADA). The event was also co-hosted by several student clubs, including the HUFLIT Fintech & Financial Investment Club (HUFIC), Foreign Trade University Fintech Club – Campus II (FFC), UEH Securities Club (SCUE), and FPT University Business & Economics Club (BEC).

The Hackathon drew enthusiastic participation from leading universities such as Foreign Trade University – Campus II, University of Economics HCMC, Banking University HCMC, RMIT University Vietnam, Ton Duc Thang University, and FPT University HCMC, creating a highly competitive and collaborative academic atmosphere.

Building on the success of its two previous seasons, the third edition introduced two main categories: Research and Hackathon, allowing participants to choose between in-depth analytical projects or practical product development. The competition featured three rounds – an online quiz, online presentation, and an in-person final round – reaching over 500,000 online impressions and drawing an audience of more than 400 students at the final event.

Dr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, Rector of HUFLIT, shared:

“The Fintech - Blockchain Hackathon is one of HUFLIT’s academic initiatives aimed at encouraging students to explore interdisciplinary skills and practical applications. Through this competition, students have the opportunity to innovate, collaborate, and turn their ideas into impactful research and real-world projects.”

In the final results, the Research Category Champion was awarded to Team FTET from the Foreign Trade University – Campus II, while the Hackathon Category Champion went to Team “Tên nhóm là gì” from HUFLIT.
These results highlight the diversity and high caliber of participating teams, as well as the spirit of fair competition and academic exchange among universities.
