Following the success of its first season, the “Fintech - Blockchain 2023” competition, organized by the Faculty of Economics and Finance at Ho Chi Minh City University of Foreign Languages and Information Technology (HUFLIT), drew significant attention from the student community. With the theme “Blockchain Application Project Analysis,” the competition provided a high-quality academic platform where students could demonstrate their research and analytical capabilities in advanced technologies.
According to the organizing committee, the competition consisted of three rigorous rounds to ensure fairness and quality. Round 1 – “Online Quiz,” held from March 26 to April 3, 2023, attracted hundreds of students, with the 32 top performers advancing to the next stage. This initial round was crucial in assessing participants’ foundational knowledge of Fintech and Blockchain.
Round 2 – “Project Presentation,” running from April 2 to April 16, 2023, presented the biggest challenge. The 32 students were divided into 8 teams of four, each tasked with analyzing real-world blockchain application projects and presenting their findings through a 10-minute video. This round tested not only technical understanding but also teamwork, independent research, and critical thinking skills.
After two intense rounds, the judging panel selected five outstanding teams — Winter, Extreme Dynamos, Unfightable, Zinance, and Ngẫu Nhiên — to advance to the final stage. Round 3 – “Stage Presentation,” held on April 18, 2023, was the ultimate showdown, where teams presented live, answered situational questions, and debated to claim the championship title.
According to M.A. Phan Minh Dat, Lecturer of the Faculty of Economics and Finance and Head of the Organizing Committee, “The quality of projects this year has improved significantly compared to the first season. Students not only mastered theoretical knowledge but also demonstrated their ability to apply it in analyzing real-world projects, showing remarkable growth in research thinking.”
The competition’s success was reflected not only in the number of participants but also in the quality of analyses presented. Many teams offered deep insights into the potential, risks, and practical applications of blockchain projects in the Vietnamese context, showcasing the analytical depth and critical thinking of the young student generation.
